KPW Girls U12B team wins district crown

The King Philip Walpole Youth Hockey Girls U12B team won the District 3 Tier IV championship with a thrilling shootout victory over Norwood.

KPW held a 2-0 lead heading into the third period, but Norwood answered with two goals in the final two minutes of regulation, including the game-tying score with nine seconds remaining. The two teams played a scoreless overtime period, but KPW outscored Norwood, 2-1, in the shootout to earn the district championship.

KPW earns a berth in the Massachusetts Tier IV state tournament, which will be held March 16-18.

Congratulations to all our Girls U12B players, coaches and families!

KPW 18U full-season team registration open

Registration now is open for any boys and girls 18U players interested in playing for a King Philip Walpole Youth Hockey full-season team. The tuition will be $319 per player (players who do not have a 2017 KPW uniform will be charged an additional $60 for game and practice jerseys and socks), and will include games and five skills sessions on alternating Thursdays through March. All players are eligible to play, and games are expected to begin the weekend of Dec. 15.

  • The boys team will participate in the South Shore Conference full-season division (where our 18UB2 team plays now).
  • Since there are no full-season leagues for 18U girls, we will schedule scrimmages with a number of strong 14U teams and are evaluating options to scrimmage high school JV teams.

Register today through the KPW Web site.
